I had hoped the creation of this blog would light a fire under me and I would get busy crafting my little heart out. So far that hasn't happened yet, but in my meager defense there just aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I'd LIKE to do as well as all the stuff I HAVE to do. Work really does get in the way of things. And just to add to my meager defense, I've been dealing with bronchitis for the past three weeks. It never totally got me down, but it sure did make me tired -- not much extra energy to expend on anything.
Ok, my personal pity party is now over. Now on to the meat and potatoes of this post. I've been giving a lot of thought to what this blog means to me and what I hope to accomplish. As I stated in my very first post, the majority of my writing will probably be about my craft projects/creative endeavors and my pugs. (I'm just absolutely nuts about those two dogs!) I kept thinking I just didn't have anything to write about. Then it hit me. I do have something to share that entwines both of my favorite subjects together.
There is an effort underway in my town to develop a dog park, and I just recently joined in the effort. Upon joining the dog park association I was given the task to come up with graphics to identify the park. That task put my creativity to good use. I'll share some of the graphics I designed in another post; however, because I don't have access to my files right this moment. What I do want to share with you now is that we had a very successful bake sale on Valentine's day to help raise money, and I made and decorated a couple of cakes for the sale. I think decorating a cake qualifies as a crafting/creative endeavor (the cake was my canvas and the frosting my paint), and it was done in an effort to help a dog cause. For me, it doesn't get much better than that. I haven't decorated a cake in a little while and was just a little bit rusty, but I was fairly please with the end result. The fact that it barely spent any time on the table before selling didn't hurt my ego any either.
The above picture is what I came up with. Simple but elegant, I think, and perfect for Valentine's day. It really felt good to get back in the saddle and create something.
Now for my next project.........................

Jumping on the blog bandwagon.
Ok, so I'm new to the world of blogging. Better late than never, right? A bunch of my friends and coworkers have started blogs and have spurred my interest -- no way am I being left out. Some are seasoned bloggers and some are fairly new to the blog world just as I am. I think the one event that piqued my interest the most is the "One World One Heart" give away that is currently taking place. I'm too late getting this started to participate in this year's give away, but I'm sure as heck going to join in on the next go around. What an awesome idea. There are some very talented and creative people out there.
I'm not really sure, at this point, what all I'll be blogging about. As my blog name suggests, I'll definitely be sharing my creative pursuits. I enjoy doing a wide variety of crafts and learning new crafting skills. I have taken a 2 1/2 year hiatus, of sorts, from crafting, but I so want to get back to it as creating something, and watching it take shape brings me a lot of pleasure. If I'm not blogging about craft projects, my other most favorite topic would be my furbabies, the lights of my life, my two pugs. Anyone who knows me can tell you just how crazy I am over these two dogs. So, I can almost guarantee you'll be hearing a lot about Jazzy and Grace -- not to mention tons of pictures. If I happen to have an epiphany or words of wisdom you'll be hearing about that as well. One thing you probably won't get here is major political discussions. I definitely have strong opinions on the issues, and I do talk about it, but for the most part, I really do hate politics. It's so volatile and most of the time ticks me off so badly I can't see straight.
I'll close for now because it's getting late. I'll simply say, I don't know what the heck I'm doing, but I'm going to have fun figuring it out. If you stick it out with me hopefully you'll find something here that will inspire, give you a good laugh, or perhaps provoke some thought. Whatever the outcome, I hope it has a positive impact.
